Here's a link to an article in the City Paper. It references a group called 'Save Our Transit', that is encouraging people to boycott the restarauts and bars that oppose this tax. -
Here's a brief quote taken from this article -
"We are asking all transit riders to boycott all restaurants and bars that are opposing this tax," says Amanda Zeiders, chairperson of Save Our Transit, an organization advocating for improved public transit. "We definitely don't think [the drink tax] is the best option, but it's the only option we have at the moment."
Crystal Williams, 28, of Penn Hills, depends on the Port Authority to get to and from her job Downtown every day, and she says bar and restaurant owners' opposition to the tax is "very upsetting."
"Transit prices are going up," she says, waiting for a bus at the corner of Smithfield Street and Fifth Avenue. "This tax could help lower fares."
I'm not even going to start in on this... read it all for yourselves... http://www.pittsburghcitypaper.ws/

Drink Tax -Pittsburgh Points:
- The money generated from this tax has absolutely no spending plan.
- This tax was passed to bail Port Authority out of their budget crisis, due to poor managment.
- The poor managment of the Port Authority is a direct result of Dan Onorato, who personally appoints all 9 members of the Port Authority's Board of Directors.
- This is not a Sin Tax. Allegheny County is still counting on people to drink to make money.
- This tax directly effects the income of hard working servers and bartenders that live and work in Allegheny County.
- If we let this tax go without a fight it will continue the ongoing precedence for other arbitrary taxes.
